My thoughts on good writing
Good writing to me is a writing that has some facts. But the facts are put into the writers one words with their own views. Joyce Carol oats said that “unlike journalism, which exists primarily to present facts, the essays transcend their data, or transmute it into personal meaning”.
One example of this is a essay I found in my English book. Its an essay by Diana George called changing the face of poverty. She talks about the habit for humanity program. She takes the facts and puts them in her own words. I also wrote a paper for my psychology class that reflected on the same strategy. I had to do an observation on eye contact. I took all the information and put it in my own words.
My view on good writing is a writing that expresses the facts in the authors own words. I know all of my writing doesn’t follow my description of good writing. I have a lot of work to do to ever get there. My writing sometimes gets way off track. Although I’m trying to fix my problems It’s going to take sometime and a lot of practice to ever get to where I need to be. I mean I really want to be a good writer. But It’s hard to find the time to practice. And once I get the It’s like I know what I want to say I just don’t know how to put it so that people can understand just what I’m trying to say. Without causing a lot of confusion about what I’m trying to say. Although there have been some people including a few teachers tell me that my writing is good. I feel that it needs to be improved. At least moved up to my standard of good writing. One day I hope to improve my writing in such a way that not only my readers like and understand my writing. But also I will be happy with the end results. In conclusion my writing needs a lot of improvement before I will be happy with it. Well that all I have to say for now. So keep on writing.

I could not have said it better, even if I had written this. I also have problems in trying to put words on paper. It definitely is very time consuming, and with my life style, time is of the essence. I am not very good at creating my own ideas, but hopefully after this class is finished, I wish to have a good idea of what good writing is. When I have to do oral presentations in some of the other classes, eye contact is hard for me to do. I wonder what they are thinking.
I feel really similar on what you consider to be good writing. You have to express your writing through your own voice. If everyone sounded alike it would be just boring. Just from reading this, I think you have a wonderful potential to become a good writer. I believe we all have our hands full from time to time. It can be hard to study and catch up on your writing technique. Just keep practicing and you will go far.
